Who Gets to Decide who is Beautiful and who is not
Is there a panel somewhere which consists from judges that classify who on this planet is beautiful and who is not? I know this happens on many different TV-shows but is it the same as what everybody is dealing with daily? I don't think so. Who decides what beauty stands for? Do the fashion magazines decide this? Or do the popular people in schools, television or on the street?
I'm convinced the answer is easy but there are a lot of people that refuse to see inner beauty and beauty in deeds, and not in sight. Fair enough, everybody has the desire to look their best, and this is normal. But if you're so stuck on things you don't like about yourself and you can't be happy with yourself there is a problem, and it's not physical but it's psychological. Face it; there will always be someone more beautiful, nicer, meaner, uglier, funnier, etc then you. Why do you want to spend so much time and energy on 'improving' yourself? Why not enjoy the good sides of yourself.
Take plastic surgery in example, it's really nice in some situations. But there are a lot of people that don't really need it but they convince themselves they do. I'm pretty sure that a lack of confidence is a common reason for people to have them find their way to plastic surgery. But will most of them feel better afterwards? I doubt it. They will probably find something else they can be insecure about.
Sometimes I'm like that, criticizing myself, not satisfied about something. But it doesn't last and I don't want to be like that. I think people keep themselves busy to much with their opinion and strife for beauty. Anyway, physical beauty will fade eventually, it's unpreventable. Luckily there are things far more important.
Many people find friends and lovers through the internet these days, some even without seeing each other in the beginning of the relationship. I'm one of the people that found my partner, my soul mate, through the internet. I fell in love only knowing her inner beauty and I knew she was the one for me, without seeing her in real I was convinced. Her physical beauty comes close to her inner beauty but would I have changed my mind if she wasn't beautiful from the outside? I know her physical beauty will change, like everybody's physical does but her inner beauty will remain.
